What does it mean when we say we offer Elopement Planning Assistance? A lot of elopement photographers offer it, and it can mean a lot of different things depending on the photographer you hire. We'll just cut to the chase - here's what it means to us.
Vendor Connections & Referrals
When it comes to planning your elopement, especially if you're headed out-of-state, it can be tricky to research vendors for a service you've probably never used before. Luckily, we've connected and worked with tons of vendors across Texas and the country. We know the best local elopement-friendly make up artists, hair stylists, personal chefs, and florists in the business! We've already had those tough conversations and have seen what magic they make.
Want a horseback tour of the canyon? We know someone! Have your heart set on a desert picnic - cowboy style! - but don't want to cook it yourself? We've got just the cowboy for the job! What about a helicopter tour of a glacier? We actually know the guy!
Each of our couples receive a personalized vendor recommendation list based on location, budget, and style. We don't just send out a giant list of vendors for you to comb through. We really listen to what you want for your best day ever, and connect you to the best of the best. We'll even reach out to the vendor on your behalf if you'd rather us take care of it!
Gettin' hitched in a scenic location usually means you'll need a Special Use Permit (SUP) and/or Photography permit. Of course, every location is different, and there are certainly areas where you don't need a permit - but it's always worth checking with the local authorities so you don't get slapped with a hefty fine at your ceremony.
We do the legwork in researching if you need a permit to elope in your preferred area, but we cannot always file the paperwork for you. We'll send you all the resources you need to file the correct paperwork in a timely manner, but you will need to be the one to talk to park rangers and authorities to make sure your elopement is conducted legally. It's just like booking a traditional venue, but much cheaper - and you'll get those million dollar views!
Your elopement can (and should!) be more than just a couple hours. This is the day that you'll relive over and over for the rest of your life. This is your anniversary! The day you'll celebrate every year together. Your adventure elopement deserves the same attention and care as a "big, traditional" wedding.
This one can be a doozy, because it takes so many different factors into consideration. We take into account the weather, lighting, and what activities you want to include in your big day. We'll have a conversation during the planning process, and then we'll craft a suggested timeline for the day, filled with experiences for your elopement day.
Of course, you're welcome to rearrange things as you see fit - but we always recommend not packing too much into your day. We schedule you some buffer so that you can slow down, relax, and enjoy your day together - but also in case something runs late or the weather suddenly interferes. You don't want the entire timeline to be a giant photoshoot (unless maybe you do) - this is your time to soak each other in and live.
Things don't always go to plan though. We recommend having a backup plan in case the canyon is washed out in a monsoon, or your helicopter tour is cancelled due to a blizzard. We'll have a backup plan or two just in case things get a little funky.
Perhaps you know where you want to elope, but you don't know which spot exactly. Or maybe you had a specific spot picked out, but legal ceremonies are no longer permitted. This is where we come in.
In most cases, we can give you suggestions in a certain area for your ceremony or portraits. Check out our Texas Elopement Hidden Gems for our favorite secluded spots to exchange vows. We also research trails and scenic spots, how to get there, and the best time to visit.
But sometimes, we just need to get our boots dirty and find that perfect spot. When possible, we are happy to scout your ceremony location a day or two beforehand so that you can have the absolute best view (and photos!) while you exchange vows. LaRee will sometimes even hike in the area in a dress so that you can make the decision whether to change into your attire at the ceremony location or at your cabin.
Seriously, she really does this.
You might know what to bring hiking, and you might know what you want to bring for your wedding ceremony. Put those things together, and it can seem a little overwhelming to pack for your big trip!
We help with packing lists - whether it be for a day hike in the Rocky Mountains, a backpacking trip in the rainforest, or a glamping experience in the desert. We educate our couples on the 10 Essentials when hiking, and show you how to fasten your bouquet to your pack. We also always always tell you to bring more water than you think you'll need. Gotta stay hydrated for that all-day glow!
We always suggest hiring a day-of coordinator for larger weddings, but it can seem a little overkill for an elopement or intimate wedding. That's where your elopement photographer comes in! We've already helped you scout locations, plan your timeline, and in some cases book your vendors! We know your elopement plans as intimately as you do, and we'll be the ones by your side all day.
Many elopement photographers take on the role of day-of coordinator when it comes to keeping your day on track. We'll melt into the shadows to document your day, but we'll also quietly remind you when it's time to make your way to the trailhead. We'll be the one to greet the personal chef into your Vrbo while you and your new spouse are enjoying the view from the cabin's hot tub.
You can rest easy know that someone is quietly in your corner keeping your day on track. Butterflies in your stomach should be reserved for the moment you set eyes on each other and promise forever - not for worrying if your day will go smoothly.
